Help

Quick answers to common questions, or send us a message below.

›How does Applya find jobs?

It reads job boards, aggregators and employers' own careers pages for the countries in your Job preferences, then scores each advert against your keywords, locations and levels. Matches above your threshold appear under Matches.

›I'm getting jobs from the wrong country.

Open Job preferences and put your country first under Locations (for example United States), then save. Applya adds that country's job boards and rescans.

›Why is an application marked “Needs you”?

The employer's form asked something your profile can't answer, needed a CAPTCHA, or wanted a login check. Open the application: answer the questions there or finish the page live, and Applya carries on.

›Will employers see emails from Applya?

Applications sent by email go from your own connected mailbox (Account page). Applya's own notices to you come from support@hnjuk.co.uk.

›I can't sign in or forgot my password.

Use “Forgotten password” on the sign-in page. If the email doesn't arrive within a few minutes, check spam, then contact us below.

›What do the plans cost, and what does Free include?

Free shows you every match with a tailored CV and message to read on screen, sends two applications a month by email from your own address, and lets Applya apply on employers' sites for you three times as a free trial once you've confirmed your email. Pro and Max add Applya applying on employers' sites for you every time, downloading the CV and copying the message, and a bigger (or unlimited) monthly allowance. Prices are on the Pricing page and under Plan & billing. Paid plans come with a 14-day money-back guarantee; after that you can cancel at any time and the plan runs to the end of the period paid for.

›How do I cancel or change my plan?

Under Plan & billing, press “Manage billing, card and invoices”: Stripe's page lets you switch plan, update your card, see invoices and cancel. A cancelled plan stays on until the end of the period you've paid for. Within 14 days of your first payment you can have your money back instead (see below).

›Can I get my money back?

Yes, once: Pro and Max come with a 14-day money-back guarantee. Within 14 days of your first payment, while Applya has sent fewer than 10 applications for you, open Plan & billing, tick the box and press “Refund me and end my plan”. Every payment for the plan since then goes back to your card in full (it usually shows within 5 to 10 working days) and the plan ends at once; your profile, matches and applications stay on Free. Plan & billing shows the date your guarantee runs until.

›How does the free trial of applying on sites work?

On Free, Applya can fill in and send employers' own application forms for you three times, so you can see it work. First confirm your email: press the button in the email we sent when you signed up, or send yourself one from the Overview. Only applications that actually go in use up the trial, and they don't count towards your two emails a month. You start each one yourself from the application page; the trial is never used by automatic sending, and it's once per email address. Previewing the form before it's sent is part of Pro and Max.

›How do I delete my account or get a copy of my data?

Send a message below with the topic “Billing or data request” from the email address on your account.

›Is there a student discount?

Yes: 25% off Pro and Max for 12 months. Under Plan & billing, enter your university email address (one ending .ac.uk or .edu, for example) and open the link we send there while signed in to Applya. Each address can be used on one account only, and addresses that differ only by a +tag (you+anything@) count as one. The discount comes off when you choose a plan, or straight away if you already have one, unless your subscription already has another discount, such as a promotion code: we keep that one, and you can add the student discount once it ends.

›How does inviting a friend work?

Under Plan & billing you'll find your own invite link. Friends who sign up through it get 20% off their first payment. When they've been on a paid plan for 15 days, you get a month of Pro free: as credit on your next bill if your subscription will renew, otherwise 30 days of Pro (unless we've granted you a plan with no end date: then there's nothing to add, so no reward is given). Up to 12 a year. Inviting yourself earns nothing, including through another account at your own email address (addresses that differ only by a +tag, or for Gmail only by dots, count as yours), and so does a payment made with your own card or with a card already used for another of your invites.

›Can I use the student discount and a friend's invite together?

No, one discount at a time. If you're a confirmed student you get the student discount, as it's bigger and lasts longer. Your friend still gets their reward once you've been on a paid plan for 15 days.
